Join MDSPE for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), featuring its renowned Residential Test Facility (RTF) and building systems research laboratories.
This guided site tour will highlight how NIST conducts full-scale testing to evaluate building performance, energy efficiency, plumbing systems, indoor air quality, HVAC equipment, and intelligent building technologies. Attendees will hear directly from NIST researchers about ongoing studies that help shape building codes, standards, and best practices across the engineering and construction industries.
Participants will rotate through several specialized labs, including:
- Residential Test Facility (RTF)
- Intelligent Buildings Agents Laboratory (IBAL)
- Plumbing Research Laboratory (pipe fittings and system performance)
- Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Lab
- HVAC Equipment Testing Lab
